Is iPredikt legal in my country?
How prediction market legality works, what changes from region to region, and which parts of iPredikt are available to you.
Last updated August 3, 2026
This guide explains, in plain language, how prediction markets are treated around the world and what that means for your iPredikt account. It is general information about how our product is structured — it is not legal advice. If you are unsure about the rules where you live, check with a qualified local adviser.
The short answer
There is no single global answer, because "prediction market" describes several different products. The two things that decide your access are: which mode you are using (Arena or Live) and which region your payment providers support.
- Arena — free practice credits, no purchase, no cash value, no withdrawals. A forecasting game, available broadly to adults.
- Live — provider-backed funding, transfers and eligible withdrawals. Offered only where our payment and compliance providers support and approve them.
If Live features are unavailable in your region, your account is not blocked — you keep full access to markets, AI explanations, the leaderboard and every Arena feature.
Why the rules differ by country
Regulators classify event-based products in three broadly different ways, and the label they pick determines what is allowed:
- Regulated derivatives. Some jurisdictions treat real-money event contracts as financial instruments, which means they may only be offered by licensed venues and intermediaries.
- Gambling or betting. Other jurisdictions treat staking money on an uncertain public event as wagering, which requires a gambling licence and brings age, advertising and responsible-play obligations.
- Games and skill contests. Play-money forecasting with no purchase and no redeemable value generally falls outside both categories, which is why practice modes are far more widely available.
On top of that sit sanctions lists, local payment rules and each provider's own risk policy. That is why two neighbouring countries can end up with very different feature sets.
How iPredikt handles regional access
We do not try to offer every feature everywhere. Instead the product is split so that the forecasting experience is universal and the value layer is conditional:
- Market browsing, AI explanations, the AI Resolution Ledger, the public track record and Arena predicting are open to adults wherever the app is reachable.
- Funding, transfers and withdrawals appear only when a supported provider covers your region and your account has passed the provider's checks.
- Providers apply their own identity, sanctions and residency screening. A declined provider check restricts Live features, not your Arena access.
- Coverage changes over time. Where a feature is unavailable today it may appear later, so the app always reflects current availability rather than a fixed list.
What Arena mode is (and is not)
Arena is our practice mode. Arena credits are granted for free, cannot be bought, transferred, redeemed or withdrawn, and have no cash value. Nothing you do in Arena creates a financial position. It exists so you can learn how prices move, test your reasoning and build a track record before touching anything with real value. See Responsible Predicting for how we recommend using it.
What Live mode requires
Live features are provider-backed. That means availability depends on the payment, custody and compliance partners we work with — not just on our own policy. Where Live is available you can expect identity verification, age confirmation, regional eligibility checks and the fee schedule published on our Fees page. Prices are crowd-driven probabilities and you can lose the full value of what you commit; read the Risk Disclosure before using any Live feature.
Subscriptions do not change your access
Pro and Autopilot are AI software subscriptions. They unlock forecasting tools, briefings and automation. They never add Live credits, never reduce Live fees and never unlock funding or withdrawals in a region where those features are not offered. Full details are on the Pricing page.
Location misrepresentation
Using a VPN, proxy or false residency details to reach features that are not offered where you live breaches our Terms. It can lead to restricted or closed accounts and reversed transactions. Regional limits exist because of provider and legal obligations, not preference.
Frequently asked questions
- Is iPredikt legal in my country?
- It depends on where you are and which mode you use. Arena is a free play-money forecasting mode with no purchase, no cash value and no withdrawals, and it is available broadly. Live value features — funding, transfers and eligible withdrawals — are provider-backed and only offered where our payment and compliance providers support and approve them. If Live features are unavailable in your region, your account still works in Arena.
- Are prediction markets gambling?
- Regulators treat them differently depending on the jurisdiction and the product. Some regions treat event contracts as regulated derivatives, others treat real-money event wagering as gambling, and many treat play-money forecasting games as neither. iPredikt's Arena mode uses non-redeemable practice credits and is a forecasting game, not a wagering product.
- Why is a feature blocked or hidden in my region?
- Live funding, transfers and withdrawals depend on our payment providers, which apply their own regional availability, identity and sanctions rules. Where a provider does not support your region, the corresponding feature is not offered. Availability can change as providers expand coverage.
- Can I use a VPN to unlock Live features?
- No. Misrepresenting your location breaches our Terms and can result in restricted or closed accounts and reversed transactions. Use the app from the region you actually live in.
- Does buying Pro or Autopilot change my regional access?
- No. Pro and Autopilot are AI software subscriptions. They add no Live credits, do not reduce Live fees and do not unlock funding or withdrawals in a region where those provider-backed features are unavailable.
- What is the minimum age?
- iPredikt is for adults aged 18 and over, or the age of majority in your location if that is higher.
